Case: X-FELT Floating/FUWL Showroom
All around the world, architects and designers are using BAUX Acoustic products in exciting projects for great brands. In a series of newsletters, we aim to introduce you to a selection of projects and the mind masters behind the designs of these acoustic artworks. Why? Because there are endless design possibilities to share with the world. We simply will call these newsletters Interviews #.
What was your initial vision when integrating BAUX X-FELT Floating into the FUWL showroom?
First of all, the acoustics in the space were awful, with hard surfaces such as glass, concrete, and metal. So we knew we had to do something about that.
Second, we had an ambition to divide the space into different zones without building walls. The X-FELT Floating Panels became the perfect solution, addressing both the sound and spatial division with just the right balance.
The installation has an airy, light presence with architectural qualities, enhanced by its scale and lightness.
What kind of experience did you want to create for visitors?
We wanted to create an atmosphere that felt both monumental, cosy, and playful. At the same time, the space needed to adapt with ease, as the Testing Grounds showroom (?) is an installation designed to work over a longer period and host everything from workshops and dinners to talks and drinks.
In what ways do you see floating acoustic elements changing how we design interior spaces?
I think these flexible, more adaptable acoustic products are a great addition to the modern office, alongside a pod and a table or floor-standing divider.
Do they open up new possibilities compared to traditional solutions?
I would say the key is flexibility and lightness, both in terms of actual weight and expression, compared to more traditional ways of creating zones and dividing spaces.
How have BAUX X-FELT Floating products transformed the acoustics within the showroom?
All of a sudden, conversations improve significantly when the space is filled with people, and the everyday soundscape becomes much more pleasant.
How did visitors respond to the installation during the events and talks at the Testing Grounds Showroom?
We set out to make the space into something that could host many different events and create an atmosphere you want to return to. Halfway in, we feel we’ve been succeeding with that. It would have been quite a struggle without the X-FELT Floating Panels and Baffles, so thank you, BAUX.
