Custom coloured Acoustic Wood Wool Panels from BAUX were chosen for their unique textures and modular flexibility

Dittmar + friends latest project in the Chipperfield Building involved designing contemporary office spaces for UPVEST, a Fintech Startup seeking a functional, aesthetically pleasing, and identity-driven environment. The objective for the project was to create a workspace that not only meets the practical needs of the company but also reflects their corporate identity through carefully curated materials and design elements, resulting in a sophisticated and collaborative atmosphere.

The project began with understanding the client’s workspace needs. The design explored various floor plans for 80–100 workstations, meeting areas, and spaces for client interactions and events. The office spans two floors for views, privacy, and accessibility, with the ground and first floors dedicated to daily work, distinguished by colour zones (green on the first and blue on the second. The third floor is open, with panoramic views of Alexanderplatz, designed for gatherings and visitors.

The interior concept emphasised integration of the client’s corporate colours to strengthen brand identity within the workspace. Custom coloured Acoustic Wood Wool Panels from BAUX were chosen for their unique textures and modular flexibility. These panels not only enhance acoustics in the meeting rooms but also serve as distinctive design features aligned with the company’s visual identity. The selection process involved thorough evaluation of available shapes, textures, and colours, with samples evaluated to ensure colour accuracy and material harmony before final application.

The key challenge was the use of diverse materials, rental furniture, and colour-matched panels, which required meticulous planning and many iterations to meet expectations while remaining within budget. Bringing all the materials together harmoniously and finding the perfect matches.

Throughout the project, ongoing client feedback ensured adjustments and validation, leading to a final design that exceeded expectations. The client was delighted, praising the vibrant yet secure workspace that reflects their brand. The result is a modern, flexible, and cohesive office that combines functionality with the brand ethos, showcasing how thoughtful design and spatial planning create an inspiring environment for a growing company.

BAUX has 20 colours in our standard wood wool palette (21 with natural) – see all colours on the BAUX Acoustic Wood Wool page. You can choose any of our standard colours to create your unique design for walls and ceilings. If you want a custom colour wood wool product instead, you can always send us a colour code (European, Asian or US colour code). There will be a small extra charge if the custom colour covers less than 25 m2. If the custom colour covers more than 25 m2, there will be no additional charge.

In addition to the BAUX standard wood wool palette, there is also a new palette with 18 new colours. The colours are part of the BAUX ♥︎ Tarkett collaboration, and the latest colours in the collection can be ordered as usual. The colour palette is named Air Collection. See all 18 colours here.

BAUX Acoustic Pulp
There are six colours in the Acoustic Pulp line—a natural wheat mix and our new biodegradable colours. See all colours on the BAUX Acoustic Pulp page. Custom colours are not available for BAUX Acoustic Pulp panels.

BAUX Acoustic X-FELT
BAUX Acoustic X-FELT Panels and Tiles are available in nine stunning colours to elevate your design possibilities. The Mono Colour panels and tiles consist of a single core material in one of three shades: Chalk Grey, Granite Grey, or Ash Black. The Duo Colour panels and tiles combine two materials: a core material in either Chalk Grey or Ash Black, paired with a top material available in six colours— Sand, Brown Sand, Grass, Sky Blue, Deep Waters, or Red Clay. BAUX Wood Wool panels are coated with water-based colours. We’ve meticulously evaluated various paint suppliers, selecting those with top-notch environmental credentials.

BAUX Acoustic Pulp
BAUX Acoustic Pulp Bio Colours feature plant-based paint crafted from natural, biodegradable materials like plant extracts, chalk, minerals, and earth pigments. BAUX Acoustic Felt Recycled PET
BAUX Acoustic Felt Recycled PET offers a palette of six versatile colours tailored to your acoustic design needs. The colours are achieved by using recycled polyester fibres that are pre-coloured and blending them to create consistent shades. Pigments are also embedded directly into the polyester fibres during production, ensuring long-lasting, fade-resistant colours. These processes minimise water usage and energy consumption while incorporating recycled materials, reducing waste and supporting a circular economy.

The vibrant colours in our X-FELT products are achieved by using recycled polyester fibres that are pre-coloured and blending them to create consistent shades. Can I order BAUX products without colours?

BAUX Acoustic Wood Wool
Yes. We can deliver BAUX Acoustic Wood Wool in its raw form. The result is an acoustic tile or panel that carries the natural look of spruce wood.

BAUX Acoustic Pulp
Yes. The Natural Wheat mix is one of the Pulp panels without any colour. The colour is achieved using 5% wheat bran.

BAUX Acoustic Felt Recycled PET
No. The Acoustic Felt Recycled PET product can not be delivered in its raw form/without any colour.

BAUX Acoustic X-FELT
No. The Acoustic X-FELT product can not be delivered in its raw form/without any colour.

How do I order custom colours?

Only the BAUX Acoustic Wood Wool assortment can be ordered in custom colours. Please contact your local representative or info@baux.com to order custom colours. The lead time for custom colour orders is the same as for any other wood wool order. The production starts once you confirm your order from BAUX. Standard production lead time is 3-6 weeks plus shipping.

Does custom colours cost extra?

There will be a small additional charge for designs covering less than 25 m2. If the custom colour covers more than 25 m2, there will be no extra charge. Only the BAUX Acoustic Wood Wool assortment can be ordered in custom colours.
