Architect & Design Interviews #9 – Trine V. Roald and Nichlas Hvesser & SANDS

All around the world, designers and architects are using the BAUX acoustic tiles and panels in exiting projects for exiting brands. In a series of newsletters we aim to introduce you to a selection of projects and the mindmasters behind designs of these acoustic artworks. We simply will call these newsletters Interviews #.

This week we’re heading over to Norway to talk to Scenario Interior Architects about their sleek black BAUX designs for the law firm, SANDS.

Tell us a bit about the project?
SANDS are now one of Norway’s biggest law firms and they asked us to renovate two buildings in Oslo, which would become one central office. We were looking for something that had the same textural qualities as burnt wood; a suitable material to transition between the buildings. We ended up using BAUX designs in the internal meeting rooms and staircases too.

Why did you choose BAUX?
We saw BAUX at Stockholm furniture fair and we were waiting for a project to try it out on. The texture and variety of shapes gave us the opportunity to create some unique wall designs.

How did the BAUX designs transform the space?
The black wood wool gave us a similar textural feel to burnt wood. It’s a contrast to the smooth oak and glass surfaces. The form, colour and texture are just really interesting. Each one is a unique piece of art really, which brings a sense of creativity and innovation to the space.

The client was very pleased with the results and we’re now using BAUX designs in all their office spaces. Aside from the functional benefits of better acoustics, the BAUX designs are a piece of art in themselves.
